Recommended portion size?

  • Three to four meals per week with recommended portion sizes equivalent to 650g per week per person (raw weight) provides amounts of red meat recommended for key nutrients.
  • Recommended portion sizes per serve for popular meals are 100g, 125g, 150g and 200-250g (raw weight).   
  • This amount is equivalent to 455g of lean and cooked red meat per week per person recommended in the Australian Dietary Guidelines for key nutrients, including bioavailable iron and zinc, high quality protein, omega-3 and vitamin B12. 
  • The recommended amount of red meat includes beef, lamb, pork, goat, kangaroo and game meat.
